The BSFA’s hosts it’s own fund-raising events and receives donations from other local groups that make this assistance possible.
The BSFA’s goal will continue to be helping our community and expanding to help more families that may need assistance. Seeing the joy in the children’s faces and relief on the parents’ faces makes every moment worth these continued efforts.
The BSFA’s largest annual event is Operation Santa Sleigh.
Through this effort, families in need request the association’s assistance in meeting their needs at Christmas time through providing toys, clothing, shoes, coats, diapers and car seats, for newborns and up. The event includes gifts delivered to the families by Santa himself. Santa is accompanied by Mrs. Claus, The Grinch, and his elves.
Additionally, we have provided clothing, shoes, and household needs for adults in the family as well. If the sponsored family’s are in need of a Christmas tree, decorations, or food for a traditional dinner, that can also be provided. The goal of the event is to provide families with a genuine Christmas that they otherwise may not be able to experience.
Other events in which the BSFA participates and strives to demonstrate community stewardship are the Independence Day and Christmas Parades in our local town of Havre de Grace, Veterans Day Parade at Perry Point VA Hospital, Wreaths Across America, and sponsorship of and participation in, the 911 Ride, held every year in our area.
The BSFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity group. BSFA provides support to numerous local groups and charities. The main goal of the BSFA and the BSFA Ladies Auxiliary is to help the community.
